studiomgm works solely on projects fully embracing ecological and climate change adaptation design. It has three offices in Cambrideshire, Suffolk and Kalmar kommun, Sweden. The four partners have extensive experience with over 80 years of green build between them. The practice has a policy of transparency and accessibility with partners working closely with clients.

studiomgm works on both new and existing buildings. The practice has consistently provided solutions that clients like. Buildings that are on budget, beautiful, proven to work well and win architectural awards.

Meredith Bowles
My understanding of buildings and how they work began with the study of historic buildings and continued with observations of vernacular buildings whilst travelling in different parts of the world. I believe that good modern buildings are the result of ambition, innovation and the collected wisdom of generations of builders.

Ralph Carpenter
Our buildings are essentially about delightful spaces with an external face that grows from the plan and section. We coined the phrase ‘deep green buildings’ … using materials with the lowest possible embodied energy and serviced by carbon neutral systems. In short our buildings aim to lift your spirits and sit lightly on the earth.

Richard Scales
I believe that buildings must be designed to respond to seasonal weather variations and climate change using basic design principles such as orientation, mass, solar shading and natural ventilation with simple control systems. Complicated high tech equipment should not be necessary. Buildings built using natural materials will deliver comfortable and beautiful environments for people to live and work in.

Neil Winder
Over the years I have steadily moved away from the monumental to the vernacular. From working as an architect on large buildings in high tech practices like Roger’s and Foster’s to designing simpler wooden buildings - shaped by low technology, ecological architecture and a sensitivity to the natural world. I am particularly interested in adaptation architecture, anticipating the impact of climate change on our lives.
